Acne Vulgaris
The forms of acne are varied and so is acne treatment. The severity can range from mild to highly marring. Some forms might require insistent acne treatment.
Acne Vulgaris: Acne vulgaris is a mild to moderate type of acne and is amongst the most prevalent forms. These include a large variety of pimples. Whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, papules, cysts and nodules fall under this category.
• Whiteheads: When pores are blocked completely they trap bacteria, sebum and dead cells, resulting in a whitish appearance on the skin’s surface. These are referred to as whiteheads. These generally have a smaller life cycle when compared to blackheads.
• Blackheads: When pores are partially blocked, some of the bacteria, sebum and dead cells slowly come up to the skin’s surface, resulting in the formation of a blackhead. The color (black) is not because of dirt; rather, it is because of the reaction between melanin (a pigment present in the skin) and oxygen. Blackheads can often be stubborn and can take a while to clear.
• Pustules: Pustules are like whiteheads, but inflamed. They appear as red circles with yellow or white centers. Pustules are a common variety of zits.
• Papules: Papules have red, tender, inflamed bumps and do not have heads. Papules should not be squeezed as is doesn’t help, and can aggravate scarring. natural acne treatments for these is usually not long drawn.
Severe Acne Vulgaris:
• Cysts: Cysts are filled with pus and can be more than 5mm in diameter. Scarring is known to commonly occur in this case and cysts are also known to be painful. Squeezing of cysts is not recommended.
• Nodules: Nodules, too, are much larger than previously mentioned quick acne tips types, could be painful, and can last for extended periods of time.
